..Breastfeeding during Ramadhan..
Salam all.... lama rasanya tak update blog ni. So hari ni terasa macam nak update pulak. but before that, i would like to wish all my Muslim friends and bloggers also those mommies who read my blog, Salam Ramadhan Al-Kareem. This is the month we've been waiting for where all our sins will be erased and forgiven, the Heaven's doors are wide open for us and the Hell's doors are sealed. also the months for us to double, triple and all the ..'ple' ..'ple' up pahala-pahala yang boleh dikutip dan dikumpul sepanjang bulan berkat ini... :)
Back to the main story. Talking about berkat, i think many of new mommies out there are worried about their milk production. orang kata, kalau nak susu banyak kena la makan banyak. kalau dah puasa, tak boleh makan then camane nak ada susu banyak kan?? well a BIG NO NO NO here.. please keep away those pemikiran kolot jauh-jauh. it is not HOW MUCH you eat. but it is simply WHAT you eat actually..
Okay la... i am not going to talk scientifically what exactly type of food or food categories that could boost up your milk production. but i am going to simply share all my experiences that really helped me to still keep on fully breastfeeding my 11 months little princess.. okay? :)
I found that my milk production was at the max level during my confinement. like seriously!!!~ i didnt eat much at that time. most of the time, i ate only biscuits, bread with milo.. (ni kes nak cepat kurus punya pasal la ni) isk3.. yes, i lost 10kgs each week until i langgar pantang MINUM AIS okay.. lepas tu no more fat loss.. fat gain ade la. huhu~ anyway what i would really like to share here is i managed to have 10oz of milk on my every session of milk pumping! best kan?? :)
Sorry... i didnt mean to make mommies feel down. bukan nak bangga diri ye. tapi nak naikkan semangat ni... okay, kite cerita pasal makanan dulu. these are all kind of food and drinks i had during my confinement. (p/s: all these pics are taken from google ye)
tamar (makan time boring2. hehe... )
bayam (biasanya masak bening je.. i mean tumis air je)
salmon (selalunya my MIL akan goreng ikan ni. err.. hari2 la rasanya)
roti (biasanya makan time minum pagi and minum ptg and supper)
ni digandingkan dgn roti la.. tapi buat yang suam tau! tak mau yang sejuk okay..
orang cakap kena minum susu. ada yang minum anmum kan? but i choose anlene campurkan dengan milo
Okay, makanan yang kat atas tu sebagai contoh je la ye.. tapi sebenarnya kena makan banyak makanan berkhasiat. ayam, daging, sayur-sayuran dan buah-buahan. untuk tambah susu, sometimes ada jugak makan lobak putih. tapi yang paling tak boleh terima bila kena makan pucuk betik. PAHIT gileeeee!!!!~ isk3... nak susu banyak punya pasal, aku pasrah... huhu~ dan juga minum air suam banyak-banyak okay... tapi memang nanti rajin pergi toilet la. so kalau nak kurangkan pergi toilet, sila pam susu.. see the psycho trick there?? hehehehe......
done with food and drinks. now lets talk about what you have to do to make sure you can gain more milk for your baby. what most important you have to do is to pump your milk frequently. as for me i did it once in 2 hours. and another tips, pump first then only you do direct breastfeeding to your baby... boleh ke ada susu untuk baby masa tu? the answer is YES!!~ baby is always the best in helping mommy to stimulate and to produce more milk.. PERCAYA lah...
yes, i do understand some of mommies out there merungut cakap baby tak sabar bila nak susu. and bila susu sikit, baby mula la buat perangai menangis or jerit-jerit kan? here is another tips.. masa baby baru lahir, baby memang akan sangat rajin TIDUR.. so latih baby untuk bangun minum susu every 2 hours. so that kita akan ready bagi susu sebelum baby jadi sangat lapar hingga buat tunjuk perasaan tu.. okay? :)
and 1 more thing dear mommies... please do always be positive and happy.. sometimes we are a bit pressure with other kids, other things and even confinement itself. but please stay positive! try to think just anything that can put a smile on your face. insyaAllah... susu akan keluar dengan happy jugak..
i have an experience where i forgot to tutup pintu peti ais rapat-rapat. and the results, i lost puluhan packets and bottles of my EBM (expressed breast milk). seriously i was so down.. down.. down... and even crying during my milk pumping. and sememangnya susu tak keluar bila menangis ye..
yet i am still struggling to keep on making my EBM stock macam dulu. masih belum berjaya but at least i manage to provide enough milk for my baby bila kena tinggal kat nursery. please mommies.... we all knew it is hard to keep on breastfeeding the baby.. even harder to provide enough EBM stock for them but we have to stay strong as we know, SUSU IBU adalah yang TERBAIK untuk bayi... So please do not give up okay...
